Lara Herscovitch: listen

There

(Lara Herscovitch)
2002-11-01
I used to believe in evolving, always thought we would
Used to believe in problem solving, always thought we could
Going round in all the same circles, coming round all the same bends
On this seesaw forever, does it ever end

So what if I’m the “right person” not now, but maybe someday
I’ve seen all those letters in bottles get slowly washed away
While you’re waiting for ducks to line up, cross the t’s, dot the i’s on your list
Baby you’re waiting on something that just does not exist
Chasing shadows around, trying to find “there”
Chasing shadows down, to discover it’s nowhere

It’s that kid on the playground who taps left and moves right
It’s the rainbow you can’t reach though you try with all your might
When you thirst it’s the oasis in the desert, when you’re lonely it’s the break of dawn
You spend all your day trying to reach it, when you get there it’s gone

You’re scared that dreams don’t and you’re scared that they might come true
Scared that I do not love you, and scared that I do
You let love slip right through your hands without even raising your voice
If you do nothing from fear that is still your choice
So do not pretend that you love me but just need to straighten your life
‘Cause we could do all that together and that kind of happy is worth a fight

I used to believe in evolving, always thought we would
Used to believe in problem solving, always thought we could
Going round in all the same circles coming round all the same bends
On this seesaw forever, does it ever end
